Last week marked 25 years since the Chernoyl atomic disaster. It remains the world’s worst nuclear accident, with humans able to start repopulating the area in about 600 years. Here’s a haunting series of before and after photos from around the area. It’s pretty awe-inspiring that despite the region remaining radioactive, nature has still managed to reassert itself. Trees have pushed through thick concrete and there is a very healthy population of wolves, deer and boar. This is the type of take-over bid that I salute.
