Fifth and Pacific Companies

by Ingrid Elburg

acrylic on canvas
36" x 48"
I chose Fifth Pacific Companies because I was attracted by the different brands under the umbrella of one company. This artwork represents Fifth and Pacific's different brands; each coming out of black holes in a gray landscape that is unified by overlapping ivy.
I painted a dress and a purse for Kate Spade, blue jeans for Lucky Brand, shorts for Jack Spade and a human head with black sun glasses for Juicy Couture.
The dress, jeans, and shorts are painted volumetrically, as if there are people inside of the clothes. The imaginary figures are wearing bright clothing, which contrasts and stands out against the gray landscape. I also painted a blue purple sky for dramatic effect. The Ivy coming out of the black holes represents a living thing that unifies all of the brands.
